We argue that closer interactions between synchrotrons and specialist SMEs, for example through Joint Development Programmes, can lead to win-win-win situations, where not just both parties benefit &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/chemistry-europe.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/cmtd.202500074\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rationalizing Deactivation Behavior in Pyrochlore-Type CeO<sub>2<\/sub>-ZrO<sub>2<\/sub> Oxygen Storage Catalysts Using Multimodal Nano X-Ray Fluorescence Computed Tomography, X-Ray Diffraction Computed Tomography, and Scanning Three-Dimensional X-ray Diffraction<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Using our unique multimodal characterisation tools, we analysed complex industrial catalysts across length scales from 0.15\u2013500 \u00b5m. We uncovered structural changes \u2014 including a phase transformation from cation-ordered pyrochlore to fluorite across a wide range of length scales and a 25% loss in oxygen storage capacity \u2014 and linked them directly to catalytic performance. A combination of laboratory and synchrotron X-ray CT (micro-CT, nano-CT, XRD-CT), neutron CT, SEM\/EDX, EBSD, and S3DXRD. One unique feature is the release of raw experimental data: radiographs, sinograms, X-ray diffraction patterns, and electron Kikuchi diffraction patterns. It provides a collection of Python function-based tools designed for accessibility and education as well as a graphical user interface (GUI). Prioritising transparency and ease of learning, nDTomo adopts a function-centric design that facilitates straightforward understanding and extension of core workflows, from phantom generation and pencil-beam tomography simulation to sinogram correction, tomographic reconstruction and peak fitting. While many scientific toolkits embrace object-oriented design for modularity and scalability, nDTomo instead emphasises pedagogical clarity, making it especially suitable for students and researchers entering the chemical imaging and tomography field. The suite also includes modern deep learning tools, such as a self-supervised neural network for peak analysis (PeakFitCNN) and a GPU-based direct least squares reconstruction (DLSR) approach for simultaneous tomographic reconstruction and parameter estimation. Rather than aiming to replace established tomography frameworks, nDTomo serves as an open, function-oriented environment for training, prototyping, and research in chemical imaging and #000000;\">Reaction conditions tailor the catalyst properties and carbon nanotubes growth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hydrotalcite-derived FeMgAl catalysts enable base-growth of carbon nanotubes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Fe3C species identified by\u00a0<em>in situ<\/em>\u00a0XRD plays a key role in the activation of CH4.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span You can find nDTomo available on PyPI.<\/p>\n<p>nDTomo is an open-source Python software suite for simulation, visualisation, reconstruction, and analysis of chemical imaging and X-ray tomography data. It is especially useful for hyperspectral datasets like XRD-CT.<\/p>\n<p>This software has been seven years in the making. Antony started the project during his postdoctoral at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esrf.fr\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>ESRF &#8211; The European Synchrotron<\/b><\/a> building GUIs for handling XRD-CT data at beamline ID15A. Over the years he has developed nDTomo to be far from a GUI &#8211; now it\u2019s an integrated platform for researchers and students in materials science, catalysis, batteries, and synchrotron applications.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>nDTomo features include:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>\ud83d\udd0d Interactive visualization of chemical tomography data via the nDTomoGUI<\/p>\n<p>\ud83e\uddea Generation of multi-dimensional synthetic phantoms<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfaf Simulation of pencil beam CT acquisition strategies<\/p>\n<p>\ud83e\uddfc Pre-processing and correction of sinograms<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udee0\ufe0f CT image reconstruction using algorithms like filtered back-projection and SIRT<\/p>\n<p>\ud83e\udde0 Dimensionality reduction and clustering for unsupervised chemical phase analysis<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udcc8 Pixel-wise peak fitting using Gaussian, Lorentzian, and Pseudo-Voigt models<\/p>\n<p>\ud83e\udd16 Peak fitting using the self-supervised PeakFitCNN<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udd04 Simultaneous peak fitting and tomographic reconstruction using the DLSR approach with PyTorch GPU acceleration<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Antony worked on this software alongside Finden colleagues;
